It seems we just can’t get a break with the rain and high waters. The columbia is in one of the highest levels around our district, we have seen in years, which means lots of back water in areas that are difficult to navigate. We are working hard to monitor our known problem areas and treating with larvicide when larva counts meet thresholds.

We need everyone to take a good look around their yards for containers, buckets, tires, or anything that can hold water as mosquitoes will lay eggs in the smallest amount of water and can produce hundreds of eggs.

We know there is and will be flying mosquitoes this late spring and early summer; with all the rain and high water a perfect scenario for mosquitoes has been created. We have identified a couple of areas already affected by flying mosquitoes. Currently, the forecast has no rain on Wednesday and Thursday, if the wind is cooperative we will be fogging these affected areas. All fogging updates will be listed under the “Adulticiding” tab.
